The Salvation Army on the Coast wants to thank the community for its support this Christmas.
The 2009 Christmas Kettle Campaign's goal of $33,000 was exceeded by an astonishing 61 per cent.
We credit the community's generosity along with all the amazing volunteers who gave of their time over the holiday season, in particular at the six kettle host sites: SuperValu in Sunnycrest Mall, Claytons in Trail Bay Centre, London Drugs, Extra Foods, Canadian Tire and Marketplace IGA in Gibsons. Other notable supporters include: Prime Rentals that donated a vehicle for the entire campaign, the Town of Gibsons, the District of Sechelt, Coast TV and Coast Reporter for their media coverage.
In addition, thanks to all the local businesses, churches and other organizations whose contributions made this year's campaign such a huge success.
While there were other communities across Canada that did not meet their campaign goals, our community not only met it, but exceeded ours. In times of economic uncertainty and all of the anxieties that this brings along with it, it's refreshing to be a part of a community that is so conscious of the needs of the less fortunate here on the Coast.
