Who is GABC you ask?

Editor: The Gibsons Alliance of Business and Community (GABC) is exactly what it says it is: an inclusive alliance of businesses, residents, and property owners in and around Gibsons. GABC is ‘not’ Suzanne Senger.

The Gibsons Alliance of Business and Community (GABC) is exactly what it says it is: an inclusive alliance of businesses, residents, and property owners in and around Gibsons.

GABC is ‘not’ Suzanne Senger. Nor is it an anti-development lobby, or even an anti-George lobby.

GABC is committed to upholding Gibsons’ award-winning official community plan. Its members support development and economic stimulation that reflect the values in the OCP that earned Gibsons its title of the “world’s most livable small community.”

There are always several ‘sides’ to any issue. GABC believes citizens and their local elected representatives should examine all sides to make informed opinions and decisions. So, GABC’s campaigns are designed to educate, using verifiable documented facts and statistics from the Town of Gibsons website, Gibsons and District Chamber of Commerce, and certified professionals in various fields.

Harbourfront development in Gibsons is an emotionally charged issue. This is, after all, where Gibsons’ heart beats. Personal attacks are not useful. What is useful, and necessary, is a thorough, objective examination of development proposals from many angles. Read developers’ material; read GABC’s material; read Town of Gibsons’ website material; read staff and professional reports; read the OCP. Then decide which developments will fit appropriately in the harbour area to keep Gibsons the world’s most livable small community, for all of us.
