What lives we lead

Do you know who started the tradition of running the Olympic flame through different communities prior to the Games? Time's up: it was the Nazis in 1936 - masters of propaganda, for sure, but amateurs compared to what we do.

We're spending millions of dollars to make ourselves feel good about spending billions of dollars on Games for the rich. We're actually trucking snow onto a mountain in winter so that hundreds of athletes from around the world can compete to win millions of dollars in corporate endorsements while millions of people in Canada live below the poverty line, and tens of thousands of people are homeless and hungry.

We have a grotesquely underfunded medical system at home, but we can afford to send troops to the other side of the planet to kill thousands of people a year in foreign countries to keep our corporations' energy supplies secure.

What pigs we are. What lives we lead.
