Always smiling, Dave Munro has indeed become a local icon.
For many years Dave supported the various community events I have been involved with: the Rat Race, the Coaster mountain bike race, Tetrahedron Outdoor Club, Dakota Ridge, and others. He often sponsored us in the way of gas and never asked for any recognition.
When I stopped in for fuel very early on Saturdays on my way up to groom at Dakota he was cheery and welcoming and complimented the volunteers.
Sometimes he held impromptu garage sales at the station – except stuff was usually free. He went out of his way to make sure the customer got what they needed. Once I filled my tank and realized I’d forgotten my wallet. He was happy to wait a few hours until I returned to pay.
We will all miss you, Dave. I hope you enjoy whatever it is you choose to do now. And I hope to see you skiing more.
