We must respect the OCP

Most people I have spoken to are astounded when they realize how high the proposed George complex could be. Others are in denial about the height on the water side, how it would look like a white elephant rather than fitting seamlessly into the existing shoreline as it should do. They look only at the possible economic advantage to the town of Gibsons overall and to some business people in particular. To me our quality of life in this small town trumps the advantages that huge influxes of money might bring.

I find the design of the proposed complex to be a bit over the top for a small fishing village, but quite attractive, and I am not against any development. The idea of building this large complex where a smaller boutique one would suit the town well feels like development at any cost.

We must respect the terms of our official community plan. To not do so is to negate all the time and money put into it and to disrespect the entire process.
