Nicholas Simons’ comment that last Thursday’s ferry to the Sunshine Coast was full of people who “deserve to live in a dictatorship” is completely unacceptable. Politicians in this country using that threatening tone is very disturbing, to say the least.
No person in this democratic country deserves to live in a dictatorship. It’s a shame that in these trying times politicians are considering oppressing citizens. We need to stand up to that type of dialogue.
This pandemic is continually compared to war. This is not World War II – far from it. It was during that war our country fought against tyranny, dictatorships and racism.
Peace and acceptance are what we need to get through this.
