Re: Single-lane traffic tie-ups on the mornings of June 27-28.
On June 27, there was already single-lane traffic when the terrible accident happened on Rat Portage Hill. Two ambulances arrived on the scene quickly, then three Sechelt fire department vehicles, then maybe 10 minutes later at least three RCMP vehicles passed me. Heading back to Roberts Creek, the traffic from Gibsons passing the accident scene was backed up to Flume Road.
On June 28, I encountered single-lane traffic before nine on my way to work. Having been a Coast resident since 1983, I took two “back routes” till getting to the highway at Selma Park Road, where the roadwork was happening. It was backed up to Field Road heading into Sechelt. Still I was 20 minutes late for work after 37 minutes. This trip usually takes me 12 to 15 minutes.
How can anyone think we don’t need an alternate road?
