If you weren't at the Sunshine Coast Com-munity Orchestra spring concert at Heritage Play-house last Saturday, you missed a stellar performance from all groups - the intermediate and youth orchestras conducted by Kathleen Hovey, the Coast symphony orchestra conducted by Edette Gagne, the Tuesday Chamber Players conducted by Janice Brunson and the concert band conducted by Francois Koh.

A trumpet solo by Paul Pedlar, French horn solo by Beverly Burgoyne and a vocal solo of "Georgia on my Mind" by Sean Veley were all outstanding.

It was discouraging that so many people missed the boat on this stunning performance - sadly, the attendance was poor. The many talented musicians and supporting members of the orchestra association have given freely of their time and energy. They did this voluntarily to entertain us, and where were we? Was it because of the sunny weather, distance, other commitments or just lack of interest? We must support these tireless musicians at every chance we get, or one day they will be gone.

In addition to their expertise, the conductors added humour and glamour to a polished gala evening.
