With my tongue firmly implanted …
Why can’t I just arrive and drive on the ferry anytime? It’s my right to make 300 people wait because I’m selfish and can’t plan my day better. The cut-off time is for everyone else, not me.
And while we are at it …
Why can’t those people who have to stay in the homeless shelter go somewhere else and be homeless? I only want $1,000 a month for my one-bedroom suite. Anyone can afford this, even at the minimum-wage jobs that are available part time. Why do I need to pay an extra couple of cents for my coffee and burger to give these people a pay raise?
The shelter should be out of town, where there is no bus route for them to get to their minimum-wage job. It doesn’t really matter that some might need to be close to medical facilities – they can walk.
My needs are paramount. I am special.
