The recycling wars continue

I empathize with Rhona Kelly (Coast Reporter letters, July 24).

I'll miss recycling my paper, newspaper and cardboard at the friendly Gibsons Recycling Depot. Yes, it's a private business, and business decisions are its prerogative. And if plunging prices turn profitable markets into loss markets, business decisions have to be made.

In the opposite corner of the ring is the Town of Gibsons, which is obliged to abide by its own regulations, bylaws and procedures. Somewhere in the mix is the Sunshine Coast Regional District, which has similar obligations.

Now if only these parties could sit around the table, private businesses (in the plural) included, somewhere in that mix is a solution in which everyone is a winner. Surely there is a way to pull down those fences that divide the players. So get to it, think outside the box, and deliver a solution that everybody can be happy with.
