The following letter was sent to Sechelt mayor and council and copied to Coast Reporter.
Dear Sechelt council:
The rotunda at the foot of Wharf Road and on the broadwalk has been a matter of serious concern I have had for many years, due to its former neglected, unkempt and thus unattractive state since its expensive installation many years ago.
I pointed out on too many occasions the eyesore it had become for lack of attention as I did when on the Sechelt greenery committee.
I have since followed through many times to the District of Sechelt re-expressing those same concerns.
To my very great surprise and at last, the rotunda now has been thoroughly dressed and is most eye-catching with its windmill palms and improved groundwork, a fitting example that I am sure that many of those people who walk the broadwalk daily will now enjoy.
I sincerely trust that the landscaping will be maintained to the standard now set.
I would like to express my thanks to council for this much needed beautifying of a gem that had for far to long been the subject of neglect and further.
Lauri M. Pearce, Sechelt
