Tender feet on trails

Letters

Editor:

My dog had a wad of gum stuck in her paw, which somebody had spat out on the trail or in the bushes. By the time I realized what was bothering her, it had hardened and was very painful for her when I removed it. I have also seen cigarette stubs and am worried my dogs might also come across stub ends from someone smoking pot.

A few years ago, this is exactly what happened to my dog and I ended up with a $500 vet fee. Anyway, with the risk of wildfires, now is not the time to be smoking on the trails. Mostly, I find that people are responsible, but unfortunately, it only takes one. Not only are dogs at risk, but so is the wildlife in the woods.
