Spiffy marsh amenity

Letters

Editor:

Visitors will be pleased to find a bench at Sechelt Marsh which has a roof and a place for a wheelchair. This spiffy new structure was financed by a grant from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest Legacy Fund. It was designed by Alexander Pruden, a volunteer from The West Group. Construction was by master carpenter Vincent Pronovost.

This was a joint project between the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society and the District of Sechelt. The bench is situated to one side to allow for a wheelchair and it will be painted when acclimatized.

We were ably assisted by the district’s park manager, Perry Schmitt, who is retiring at the end of May. Perry has been a good friend of the Marsh and will be missed very much.
