To PM Justin Trudeau and MP Pam Goldsmith Jones:
I am writing to protest the issuance of permits by DFO that will allow the continued destruction of the Peace River Valley.
There is nothing of honour, integrity, respect or intelligence in this decision. The illusion that building Site C dam will somehow contribute to Canada’s climate change solution is not based on science, economics or the understanding of the value of biodiversity to humanity.
I am utterly sick at heart by this foolhardy decision. You can no longer hide behind Stephen Harper on this issue. This dam is being built on your watch. It will be your sin against humanity (as per Richard Bullock, former head of the Agricultural Land Commission).
Have the courage and the decency to go to see this valley. Learn why people have been fighting to save it for over 40 years. Do not leave this dam as your legacy. It will dishonour you forever.
