I am saddened and dismayed that the Sunshine Coast Regional District and the Sechelt Indian Band are looking at an independent power project. Please take a good hard look at the greater impact IPPs have on our economy and the life of BC Hydro (this is where we get the good cheap clean power that is the envy of the rest of the world). The B.C. Utilities Commission, B.C.'s independent public energy regulator, has stated that private river power is not in the public interest.
It may look like good money sense in the short term, but it is a cash grab that is ultimately ruinous for our province.
