Last week I went up to the SCRD building to vote against the $9 million loan for the Elphinstone Well project, located on Elphinstone Avenue where I live.
It is often referred to as the The Church Road Well Field. There are no wells on Church road.
I take issue on the voting process, which I reported to [Area F director] Mark Hiltz, my elected representative.
After filling out my so called vote, a paper that contained my name and address on which one ticks off a box if you are against the loan, I was asked by the receptionist to hand it over to a woman she called out from behind the offices.
There was no lock box, or secure box in which to place one’s paper vote. Once it disappeared behind into the offices, who knows where my decision paper went? What stops it from going into the trash bin? It seemed like something I would find in Russia perhaps.
I was not impressed to say the least and I found it most upsetting, or is it just me?
