Poem: Lament at Horseshoe Bay

'Oh, when will we be channelled through / That we may keep our rendez-vous?'

Editor:

The ferry is icumen in

Lhude sing yoo-hoo

But no!  It’s not the Langdale run

It’s only the Nanaimo one

It might as well be Timbuctoo

Lhude cry boo-hoo

What a recurring deja-vu

This waiting in the Langdale queue!

Another running-late snafu

With every ferry overdue

Oh, when will we be channelled through

That we may keep our rendez-vous?

We’re stuck in line-ups, left to stew

And tired of the awful view

Of irate cars and retinue

Oh help us, mighty Manitou

To reach our land of Xanadu

We don’t need a pleasure dome

We only crave our frugal home
