An open letter to MP John Weston:
Please do not support bombing anywhere in Syria or any other small foreign country.
Allow the Syrians to solve their own problems and to enjoy the benefits of having some of the largest gas reserves in the world.
After the Iraq deception that led to the first and second wars, Canadians have had enough of US/NATO/Israel warmongering. Western aggression against Iraq has led to over a half a million child deaths, according to UNICEF.
According to the Rideau Institute, the Afghanistan war cost Canada a minimum of $28 billion, to say nothing of the 158 Canadian soldiers dead, thousands injured and countless civilians of all ages killed, wounded or homeless.
The monetary cost of the Afghanistan war to Canada is estimated at about $28 billion by the Rideau Institute in Ottawa. That is about $800 for every man, woman and child in Canada, which totals about $20 million for the Sunshine Coast Regional District alone.
Those same billions would have paid for six years of universal childcare in Canada.
Please stop wasting hard-earned Canadian taxpayers’ dollars on harmful military aggression against foreign countries. Invest our tax dollars right here in Canada on programs of social (environmental, educational, health) uplift.
