COVID-19 has affected our community in many ways. It has changed the lives of our seniors, our children, and our families and has led to many businesses and services having to close their doors, some of them permanently.
The Gibsons Landing Heritage Society (GLHS), a registered charity that operates the Heritage Playhouse, is facing a grim future. The Playhouse is a rental facility, and the Society works to keep rentals affordable to the performing arts community. With no rentals since March 12, and no way to forecast what future revenue would look like, the Playhouse may become another COVID-19 casualty.
As all of us appreciate, basic needs in this troubled time, such as utilities and insurance, must be paid on a monthly basis; but with no revenue, this is an overwhelming situation for GLHS.
We have been blessed in the past to have this wonderful facility for films, plays, dance performances, musicians, storytellers, fundraisers, telethons, recordings, meetings and many other artists and community groups.
It would be a huge loss to the Coast community if the Playhouse did not survive.
Built by the community for the community, the Playhouse needs your financial support, no matter how small, in order to remain a vital part of our community.
A donation to the Society will help a great deal in continuing the successful life of this great little theatre. The GLHS issues tax exempt receipts for donations over $25. Please visit heritageplayhouse.com to find out more.
