I was saddened to hear of a tragic accident at Woodcreek Park on Monday, March 21. Several years ago a young teen was also struck at the intersection, in bright daylight. This cul-de-sac subdivision has teens, young children and elders, many of whom must cross the highway to catch a bus. They must run across four lanes of traffic, and we all know how much traffic has increased the last couple of years.
When I inquired about a pedestrian crosswalk about 10 years ago, I was informed the mortality rate was not high enough to warrant the expenditure. Really? Tell that to the family grieving the loss of their loved one.
Time for us to put on the pressure and demand a safe crossing. I only wish I had tried harder 10 years ago.
