If our school board wants to tie their stipend to the provincial average, they should also take into consideration that the measurable performance in our school district (graduation and FSA results) is below the provincial average. They should fix their stipend accordingly – “payment by results.” This in consideration of the fact that our performance results should be above the provincial average, because our teacher/pupil ratio is low and we have an ethnically fairly uniform school population where the English as a second language proportion is below two per cent, whereas in some schools on the Lower Mainland it is as high 65 per cent!
