No to super-highway

Letters

Editor:

The people who make up the Sunshine Coast Highway Society are correct in pointing out some of the problems of unlimited access to that roadway. However, the solution is not a super-highway to nowhere, so that people can rush up the Coast. More thoughtful access strategies and some upgrading of the present roadway are better answers than spending millions of dollars on a new roadway that bypasses small towns and scenic areas, encourages people to speed, destroys small local businesses, and ruins the character of the Coast.
