Manna from heaven and hell

Letters

Editor:

Joan Payne’s letter, “Buses cheaper than road,” in last week’s Coast Reporter got something right. Many more buses could have them departing every five or 10 minutes. Boy, oh boy, what a help it would mean to me. At present my waiting time frequently could be up to an hour. And very rarely would the bus be full. I’m 94 years old and I cannot drive. Doctor’s orders!

Buses every five or 10 minutes would be manna from heaven.

What about the budget? Could we afford the extra budget? Manna from hell?

And people love their cars. Nobody will persuade me that more people would drive their cars less in order to pay for more buses.

And as for being cheaper than another road, I question that. Are we talking about a highway using extra-wide power line clearances? Another letter in your Aug. 2 issue (“Room for a highway”) goes into some detail about that.

Oh! that things could be as simple as Joan writes.
