Lions draws are back

Letters

Editor:

Lions are people people. We love people. Especially the people of Sechelt. That’s why we do what we do, and that’s why the COVID-19 lockdown has been hard on us.

We have missed our weekly meat draws and all our regulars at the Lighthouse Pub. We’ve missed talking to visitors, welcoming them to our wonderful Sunshine Coast and sharing the fun with them.

We’ve missed all the events that are such a big part of our normal summers. The Easter Egg Hunt, baseball tournaments, Canada Day pancake breakfast and lunchtime burgers, the car show.

The Lions Housing Society has remained busy. Taking care of all our tenants at Greenecourt has been our top priority. Thanks to our manager Bob Morgan and his staff ensuring extra cleaning, limiting visitors and providing free masks, our tenants have remained safe.

The Lighthouse Pub has been open for a few weeks. Again, extra cleaning and all the other protocols are being followed to allow for a drink or a meal out, while remaining safe.

The Sunshine Coast Lions Club is now proud to introduce our “No Meat Draw.” We will begin on Saturday, July 11. Instead of meat, we will be giving away gift cards from Claytons and the Lighthouse Pub.

One $5 ticket will be good for 15 draws for $20 Claytons gift cards. If you win, your ticket stays in the draw box, so multiple wins are possible.

One $2 ticket will be good for three draws for $50 Lighthouse gift cards.

The draws will start at 2 p.m. There will be a draw every 10 minutes until 4 p.m., when we will draw three numbers for the Lighthouse gift cards. As always, if you have to leave, Lions will watch your tickets and advise you of a win.

We hope to see you at the Lighthouse on Saturday.

We extend our thanks to Claytons and the Lighthouse Pub, sponsors of our “No Meat Draw.”

Linda Stroud, President, Sunshine Coast Lions Club
