The paper has recently had much to say about the evils of woodstoves. No doubt they contribute to climate change – doesn’t everything?
But apart from its cozy warmth-like-no-other on a cold winter’s day, I value my well-maintained woodstove for how secure it makes me feel.
During a recent power failure that lasted several hours, I was snug and comfortable indoors and could even heat up my dinner on top of the stove.
Like most woodstove owners, I use it occasionally – not daily! I have it regularly cleaned and inspected, and I burn only seasoned wood.
No amount of guilt-shaming is going to separate me from this perfectly legal appliance and its sustainable heat source that is as old as humankind.
