I’m proud to have supported our federal candidate, Keith Roy in our riding and to stand with the Conservative Party. While this wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for, I remain steadfast in my belief in the values and policies we championed.

It’s difficult to come to terms with the reality that so many Canadians cast their votes driven by fear rather than policy. The Liberal campaign focused much of its messaging on Trump and tariffs, steering the conversation away from their decade of poor governance and mismanagement.

Throughout the campaign, there were repeated attempts to misrepresent Conservative candidates — suggesting they would dismantle public healthcare, eliminate the $10-a-day daycare program, or threaten the rights of women and LGBTQ Canadians. It’s disappointing to see these kinds of untrue, fear-based narratives used in place of honest, thoughtful debate.

That said, I remain optimistic. I believe more and more Canadians are beginning to pay closer attention to policy — to how decisions made in Ottawa impact our daily lives, our families, and our country’s future. Conversations are shifting, and awareness is growing.

I also want to acknowledge the losses faced by the NDP. While our political views may differ, I’ve always believed Canada is stronger with a healthy, balanced multiparty system.

The NDP has long acted as a conscience for the country, and I sincerely hope they’re able to rebuild and continue playing that important role in holding governments accountable.

Another important conversation we need to have, no matter how uncomfortable, is about the state of Canada’s mainstream media. The bias is undeniable, and far too many Canadians feel alienated by institutions like the CBC, which once prided itself on representing the full diversity of Canadian voices. A healthy democracy relies on fair, balanced, and independent media, and it’s time we address this openly.

There’s work ahead, but I’m encouraged by those who continue to engage, ask questions, and demand better. I’ll proudly keep standing for the principles I believe in and for the kind of leadership Canada deserves.
