It is really too bad that the motion by Mayor Henderson to look at efficiencies in the District of Sechelt was aborted. Any councillor who thinks that DOGE is crap should seriously evaluate whether he or she truly cares about taxpayer money entrusted to him or her! Our property tax increases are far, far too high, and as such looking for efficiencies ought to be an ongoing activity. That includes salary reviews and staffing levels. A CAO or CFO making over $200,000 each seems excessive, for example, as do entry level admin positions at $65,000! DOGE ought to be table stakes, not a one-time exercise!
