Re: “Drag racing’s future at Sechelt airport uncertain after council denies request,” July 16.

I am writing in support of the Sunshine Coast Drag Racing Association who wish to continue using the Sechelt airport for their events. As a pilot who has regularly flown into the airport over the past eight years, I can say that the rubber marks at the end of the runway have never caused any adverse effects on landing or taking off. The runway is only closed for a few days a year for the drag racing, and this has never caused me any inconvenience. I hope to see drag racing return to Sechelt airport in 2022!
