Letters: Grateful for health care received on the Coast

'I have to say how grateful I feel to have been treated by the nurses, anesthesiologist and surgeon at our wonderful hospital. Editor:

Despite having had many major surgeries over the last 50 years, mostly in Vancouver, I had to have a procedure done in day surgery at the Sechelt Hospital on Monday, June 19, for which I was quite apprehensive.

I have to say how grateful I feel to have been treated by the nurses, anesthesiologist and surgeon at our wonderful hospital. There was an emergency, which put the ward a couple of hours behind, but everyone treated me with such calm and focus that you would never have known the stress they were under.

We are so lucky to have such dedicated, skilled professionals right here on our doorstep. And to the patient who was complaining about the delay being “unfair” and causing them difficulty in having to readjust their pick-up arrangements – please remember that it could have been you with an emergency that caused the delay for the “scheduled” surgeries. We should all be grateful for the care we receive here on the Coast. It is the best I have ever encountered.
