To give is generous, giver’s lift,
For recipient, it’s a gift.
Advocates for causes whine,
On a freebie wish to dine.
Step up government, some would say,
It has lots, it’s easy pay.
Government down the fiscal drain,
Inflicting thus taxpayer pain.
Generosity, government not,
It’s our assets that they’ve got.
‘Tis easy to see that tax and spend,
Will be with us ‘til liberal end.
