With an election in the offing,
and a need to show strong independence,
it was, “Elbows Up” Carney.
His use of a hockey trope,
meaning you are not one to back down
to Trump or any other bully,
was meant to signal his determination
never to cave in to Trump’s aggression.
If Trump imposed tariffs, Canada would counter.
If Trump talked annexation, we would send him packing.
This stance won him minority power in the legislature.
But that was then, this is now.
Trump imposes tariffs on aluminum and steel,
Carney says let’s negotiate.
Trump ups the tariffs because of Canada’s tax laws,
Carney suspends the taxes.
We all laughed when Trump was called TACO -
Trump Always Chickens Out.
Now the shoe is on the other foot.
Carney’s elbows are nowhere to be seen.
Carney has become CACO,
A fitting nickname for Trump’s latest sycophant.
