Legion as heritage centre

Letters

Editor:

The Sechelt Legion is being sold, and others across Canada are suffering from financial and membership shortfalls. Most communities in Canada are blessed with having a common opportunity – convert the Royal Canadian Legion into a Canadian Heritage Centre. Make it a home for veterans, artists, musicians, writers, sports and community volunteers. The current business has become obsolete; it is time to change the model. This could become a Canadian success story.

The first hurdle is to get Legion Command to recognize the opportunity. Offer to open your buildings for wider community engagement. Build upon the legacy of our veterans. Engage our new federal Liberal government to assist in promoting and funding Canadian Heritage. Why not?
