Why vote yes to keep our present simple to understand and easy to use existing electoral system First Past the Post - a voting system that guarantees us the election of an accountable local Powell River- Sunshine Coast MLA representative.

Elections BC will merge our small 20,979 sq km constituency of 47,100 people with the Alberni/Pacific Rim, Comox Valley, and North Island constituencies of 155,423 persons into thelarge 81,687 sq km North Island/South Coast Electoral District with four MLA's. The merger would occur if the First Past the Post easy to understand and use ballot method were to be replaced by the hard to understand and difficult to use STV system.

Because the three Vancouver Island districts have more voters than our small constituency, there is no guarantee that a South Coast MLA would be elected to advocate four us Yes, it' possible that the new complicated voting system could result in all four MLAs being

elected by Vancouver Island voters.

Gosh who wants to take an inconvenien, tiresome, time consuming and expensive ferry, air, car, bus trip to Vancouver Island for an important appointment with an unknown MLA representingVancouver Island interests?

Voting yes to keep the existing First Past the Post electoral system will guarantee that you will continue having convenient essential contact with your local Powell River-Sunshine Coast MLA representative.
