I want to extend my best wishes to the parents of Genoa May. They should not have to endure the pain they are experiencing, around the issue of parole for the person who took their daughter from them.
I agree the justice system needs to be overhauled, and the first thing that needs to happen is the injection of some common sense. For example, we have a federal government that has made no secret of its desire to increase punishment for non-violent drug offenses, yet has said virtually nothing about impaired driving, a crime that causes far more pain to people and expense to the system.
We need intelligent discussion on what constitutes true reform to the system, followed by sensible implementation of said reform. Remove the people from society who represent a true threat to public safety, and stop wasting resources on those who don't.
