I’m writing in regards to the proposed changes under consideration for the use of Cowrie Street. The idea of patio areas, or “parklets” as they’re called, situated along the street could offer a new opportunity for people to visit the shopping area. I would suggest that they be designed on a temporary basis because due to our wet weather months their use would be very limited. Also, perhaps we could follow the examples of events put on in Vancouver like “Car Free Days” or “Italian Days” where the street is closed to traffic for the day once a month through the summer months. We could create our own days of celebration unique to the Sunshine Coast.
