Friday ferry chaos

Letters

Re: Lynne Bayzand’s letter and their trip home with BC Ferries (“In no way a big win”). My husband and I were on that ferry as well and endured the two-ferry wait, being at the terminal  by 3:15 and finally getting on the 6:35 that left a few minutes late.

When we arrived at the terminal, the flag person told us we were not getting on until the 6:35. I said we had been listening to the radio station and five minutes ago, they were reporting the 5:50 was 62 per cent full. Her reply: the website doesn’t account for the lineup still outside the terminal! Why not?

We sure as heck would not have headed for the ferry after attending a funeral had we known we would be sitting in a lineup for hours.

We didn’t stay for the tea, knowing the Friday ferry chaos. We knew we wouldn’t make the 4:30 but assumed we would have plenty of time for the 5:50 after listening to the traffic report. Strange as it may seem, some of us don’t enjoy spending 4.25 hours getting home.

I suggest BC Ferries remove “40-minute crossing time” from the website and instead include “once you are on the ferry” then it is a 40-minute crossing time.
