Sechelt Hospital Foundation’s foresight, practicality and generosity to our community cannot be overstated. The foundation is offering to sponsor the tuition and fees for up to 20 health care assistant students at kálax-ay, the Sunshine Coast Campus of Capilano University for 2020-21. This financial support represents a substantial gift to residents who wish to upgrade their education and find a new avenue to employment. These students will graduate and fill a drastic and ever-increasing need for health care assistants on the Sunshine Coast.

Supporting students today delivers long-term support for individuals and families in our community. This program also serves as an example that could be replicated across Canada to address a national shortage of health care assistants. On behalf of Capilano University and our community, I offer a huge thank you to the foundation. If you are interested in this program, contact the Sunshine Coast Campus of Capilano University for more information.
