Fish farm policy a disaster

We are living through a period of history where war is being waged on community by commercial interests with government support. It is my belief that the majority of us want social equality and a healthy environment in which to live.

After seeing the documentary film Salmon Confidential, I realize, once again, it is corporate interests that the provincial and federal governments protect rather than the health and economy of citizens. The well-researched information in this film makes it very clear that available scientific information is being denied and/or covered up. The film documents that fish farms in migratory spawning channels are spreading virus and disease to the wild salmon stocks resulting in the death of the wild stocks before they can spawn. It seems criminal that these fish farms have priority over the livelihoods of tens of thousands of British Columbians in cities, towns, small communities and First Nations who depend on the wild Pacific salmon for their livelihoods.

Not only are these fish farms infecting and destroying wild salmon, no one would choose to eat the diseased farm fish shown in this film over healthy wild B.C. salmon. The impact of fish disease and virus on humans has not been determined at this time. The economic impact of this failed government fish farm policy is clear. It is a disaster.
