I had a customer in our store this week who had her clothes set on fire while driving home from the ferry terminal, thanks to an idiot driving the other way who flicked his lit cigarette butt out his car window – it was blown/sucked into her car and promptly set her cardigan and blouse alight.
She managed to put it out without crashing but has sustained a large deep burn to her chest, and her clothes are ruined. She was deeply distressed.
She is lucky to be alive and relatively in one piece, though I believe she will be scarred from the burn.
I feel that I should have done more for her. I don’t think she is even going to report it to the police. What can they do now anyway?
