Fire could have been deadly

During my usual afternoon walk with my dog up through the trails and trees of Sprockids Park above the Gibsons bypass, I found something most unusual last week. Someone had driven a large, commercial truck onto the rough parking lot and set it on fire. What is left of this vehicle is sitting immediately under Telus and BC Hydro wires. By far the worst part of this situation, as I see it, is this blaze took place merely the width of the road from our extremely tinder-dry forest floor and burnt so fiercely that only basic metal parts remain. Had these woods been full of the usual crowd of cycling kids, any small amount of wind could have touched off a potential disaster.

We were lucky this time.
