In the last few weeks, I have seen at least 10 dogs left in vehicles on hot days.
It can happen to the most dog-loving and well-intentioned individual. They are probably thinking, “It’s not that hot” or “I will be right back.” Too often these noble thoughts end up being incorrect. The dogs may seem OK, but even if they don’t die, this is still a form of abuse and neglect. They can get into distress extremely quickly. Our weather changes in a split second and all of a sudden it is too hot for our best friends in the car.
Next time you go out and think they would rather be in the car waiting, think more about the fact that you would rather have them alive and happy you are home, rather than hot and panting, trying to cope.
