Have we become zombies?
As usual, Ms. Goldsmith-Jones showed during the Sept. 1 meeting on electoral reform that she is not a great public speaker and had someone there to promote the Liberal ideas for her. She had a short speech and then had a “political scientist” explain the different types of voting they are trying to pass without a referendum (this means you won’t have a say and we will have the government dictate their ideas to us).
At the meeting we tried to get them to discuss a referendum but their response was that if you have a referendum you could easily have a no vote – isn’t that called democracy? They figured the no vote would come from angry people voting just to say they are angry. Does that make any sense at all? There was a group of us who were trying to get them to discuss the referendum, but to no avail. I asked Ms. Goldsmith-Jones if the government was planning to have a referendum and she said not at this point, they weren’t talking about having a referendum. We, who think for ourselves, were so frustrated we were ready to pull our hair out and are still shaking our heads.
One fellow thought that the “political scientists” knew what they were doing and he was quite prepared for them to make a decision for him and forego his rights of freedom to have a vote. I believe there were a number of Liberals in the room who were trying to get people to buy into the government dictating what they want us to do. There was no thought about who hired this political scientist to push Mr. Trudeau’s plan.
People need to wake up and get informed before our country is turned into a banana republic. It was unbelievable to hear responses that would lead you to believe that people don’t want to have any part in decision making anymore. If this keeps up, we will no longer live in a democracy.
