Cost to build will only rise

Editor: I’m writing in regard to the District of Sechelt’s proposed new operations building. The need and cost for the project may seem somewhat unnecessary at the moment but the need will remain and the cost will only increase over time.

With the continuing popularity of the Sunshine Coast and the developmental growth that will come with that, the expanding requirements to meet that growth is inevitable. When exactly is the right time to move ahead with this proposal? Five years from now, 10, 20? At a proposed cost of approximately $30 a year tax increase per average residential property over 20 years, I would think it’s money well spent for a project that will be needed eventually, as people continue to leave the congestion of the mainland for other regions including the Coast. Our current real estate market is a clear indication of things to come.
