Having moved to the Sunshine Coast 15 years ago and discovering how wonderful and abundant the wildlife is, my wife and I have kept track of the variety of birds we have seen from our residence. The number, up until now, is 59 of these magnificent creatures.

Cat owners should realize that Fluffy is an invasive animal and a serial killer by instinct. The number of birds dispatched by our four-legged friends is far greater than most pet owners comprehend.

There is a simple solution to stop Fluffy from its instinct to kill birds, and that is to place a small bell around its neck. The ringing of the warning bell allows the birds time to take flight and escape, and Fluffy will soon quit trying. Responsible cat owners should adopt this proven method and allow the abundance of birds on the Sunshine Coast to go about their lives unmolested. Cats and birds can live in harmony if pet owners act responsibly.
