Better bus service needed

Letters

Editor:

A group of us in Powell River want to get our transportation service back as it was years ago when our population was much less. The bus service started from the Powell River Hotel, to Langdale, Horseshoe Bay, West Van, downtown Vancouver, the bus/train station and on to YVR, with one return trip each day leaving YVR around 3 p.m.

The fractured service offered today to the residents of Powell River is an insult, only feasible for backpackers, not mothers with children and luggage or for seniors.

This should not be a moneymaker. This is a service that is not provided for us on the upper or lower Sunshine Coast. Grants are being distributed all over this town and this province; why not for a service that is so desperately needed?

If there is someone on the lower coast who would help me take this on, please get in touch with me at [email protected]. This is not just an upper Coast problem but a concern to all of us who live on the Sunshine Coast and are unable to get to the city, the bus/train station or the airport without taking a vehicle.
