The following letter was sent to Environment Minister Terry Lake and copied to Coast Reporter.
I keep finding references to baiting bears on Facebook and YouTube. I find this practice abhorrent, but I was especially horrified to find dozens of sites advertising lamps for night hunting. I thought this was illegal.
If someone wants to be a big, brave hunter, how can they reduce themselves to the sleazy practice of either spot lamping or baiting animals? Can you please tell me whether either of these sub-human activities are allowed in B.C. If they are, they are a crime against nature.
Some people always seem to want to engineer everything for their own benefit. The fact that we have a superior brain should give us the humility to give a creature a fighting chance. Otherwise, all we are doing is shooting ducks in a barrel.
