I beg to differ with Donna Leboe’s critique of our national anthem in last week’s paper. As an editing instructor at Simon Fraser University, I keep on top of current English grammar. It evolves over the years, as does the common Canadian outlook on gender bias. The sentence stating “in all of us command” is awkward but not ungrammatical, as is the outdated line referring to our sons and excluding our daughters.
