An incomplete and flawed plan

In the District of Sechelt council briefs (Coast Reporter, Nov. 12), reference was made to comments by Coun. Fred Taylor at the Nov. 3 council meeting. The implication of what was written is that my resignation as the independent chair of the Sechelt Sewage Facilities Commission (which I did on Oct. 11) had something to do with NIMBY. This is not correct.

In fact, as I outlined in my letter to the Commission, my key reason for resigning is that the current approach of building a biosolids handling facility is flawed, at best. The proposed "solution" adds complexity to the sewage system operations, does not include a comprehensive plan for future treatment requirements, is based on old technology and relies on the continued use of a suspect system of connector pipes. In addition, and perhaps most significantly, the proposed biosolids facility will not eliminate the odours and noise at Ebbtide.

I encourage council to have the courage and vision to reconsider their current incomplete and flawed plan.
