An area for everyone to use

Reading the papers over the last couple of weeks, I couldn't help but notice articles on Dakota Ridge and the so-called problem users of the road.

Might I politely remind the newer users of Dakota that for many, many years before this area was claimed by the Sunshine Coast Regional District, that a great deal of people used this area without any problems. The area was accessible to everyone from 4x4 trucks to those tobogganing. The etiquette was being respectful of other users.

It is now exclusive only to Dakota Park users, as the access roads to Dakota Bowl have been buried in snowdrifts and rocks thanks to the road groomer.

People frown upon not chaining up. Granted, the road up to Dakota is now like an extension of the highway it is so busy, but there should still be that respect for everyone.

It has been forgotten that this is a forestry road on Crown land for all to use, not for just one user group. What will be next? Banning the logging trucks for which the very roads were built? Maybe if we can't all play nice then the SCRD should save our tax money and shut it down. Lest we forget about the Tetrahedron.

Enjoy Dakota, and let others do the same whether or not they are using the park.
