With Thanksgiving soon upon us, it’s an opportune time to reflect on the tremendous generosity that allows our community to flourish. Consider this simple fact: there are 110 charitable organizations on the Sunshine Coast. That’s one organization for every 272 people. While impressive, this number fails to capture the everyday generosity of friends, neighbours and often complete strangers who coach, instruct, support, nurture, share, and sometimes simply listen when that’s all there is left to do.
Here at the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society we are particularly grateful to the Sunshine Coast Racquet Club for the donation of $33,000 they raised on our behalf at their recent tennis tournament and gala. Simply amazing.
We often pause to give thanks for the natural beauty we enjoy. Why not take a moment to pause and give thanks for the beauty of the human spirit that nourishes our community?
